Interests: How it works: 1. Starters are posted Sundays around 5EST 2. Using the Starter as ... well a start write a continuation in the approximate style of the Starter. 3. Post either a link to your blog where the continuation is housed or post it in the comments of that weeks Starter. 4. On Thursdays a vote post will be put up. Everyone that did a continuation will have 3 votes. In a comment on the vote post place your three votes for that week. 5. The user with the highest number of votes will be the winner for the week and gets the honor of writing the next weeks starter. --Starters can be Poetry, Prose or anything inbetween its all up to the winner.

1411

So this site has been open for 1411 days. (woot and the whatnot) and unfortunately, i'm done with it. If anyone wants to take it over- you can leave me a comment on this post. Originally when I took this over I took it because I enjoyed the idea. I wanted people to diversify their writing. Unless I was (am) time crunched I try to do all the prompts, I try to stretch myself. I hate that people just pick and choose based on what's "easy" or what's "familiar". The point of this site was to be DIFFICULT, and to prove CHALLENGING.

so I'm starting over, with something different.
and i think NANOWRIMO month is the perfect time to do it. For those of who you have no idea what NANOWRIMOIS it's:

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.

---

that, in essence is what I thought this site would be. What i wanted it to be. But i'm tired of seeing the same writers win, week after week. Actually, I wouldn't be tired of that if the writers who weren't winning got feedback on their work, but they're not and eventually they just lose heart and disappear. This site has so many subs and so many friends that people should be getting traffic out the hooha (sorry, i really couldn't resist using that word), and it shouldn't all be "brilliant" "lovely" "gorgeous" "fantastic".

and people who don't participate and don't comment have no real right to be voting. (just saying) And it killed me, utterly killed me when someone suggested we voted on prompts and do what was "popular". The point of the prompts weren't to be easy and widely accepted. They were supposed to make people get out of their comfort zones and fiddle with things unfamiliar. I, personally, think the prepositional prompt was brilliant and had plans on doing it and unfortunately just ran out of time. And i'm crushed to come back and see both prompts, the second of which was ENTIRELY too easy. Including a phrase in ANY piece of choice isn't too demanding- neglected is just basically my last straw.

It happens too frequently the highs and lows of this site for me to put up with the annoyances I have. That is why I tried to do anon entries that week. to see if more people would enter. to see if new people would win. but instead i'm going to start this over, with different and much clearer objectives.

if you'd like that site, if you like feedback on your pieces, then ask me for the new site.

the prompt will be dares, anyone can submit a dare to me in a message and i will put up two a week. Entries will be submitted and the "winners" will have their pieces up on the site in separate entries for critique. When voting you can vote two ways for the one you think needs most help or for your favorite. There will be up to 4 votes allowed (two per dare) and should you comment on the winners piece you must submit (at least) one negative and one positive to their piece. ((comments who don't follow these rules will be deleted))

hell, even if it's a simple "you have a misplaced comma here" little things like that can be an eye opener. Like the girls who had the who/whom argument a few prompts down. Tips like that are HELPFUL.

but i'm out.<3
